Recognized fantasy archetypes ring true to form, but each one is charged with a startling wrinkle.
Honorable orcs, wicked dwarves, undead with a conscience, and other surprises haunt terrain that feels as comfortable as a familiar leather jacket and as unexpected as a cold steel tunic.
Veteran gamers and fantasy neophytes will soon realize that Lharna is not a cobbled patchwork of interesting oddities, but rather an interconnected fantasy ecosystem that is living, storied, and full of adventure.
Infinite Realities
There are an infinite number of realities in the multiverse,
and each reality is a self-sufficient encapsulated universe
of its own. Lharna exists in our reality, somewhere across
the emptiness of space, a single mote in a distant galaxy
the Earth's best scientists cannot perceive with our most
powerful telescopes.
In the early days of Lharna, when gods walked among mortals,
magic was used recklessly and regularly. Extensive manipulation
of the fabric of reality punched holes in the fabric of our
universe. Dark, sinister forces intent on invading and consuming
this universe found these holes and entered our reality.
Backed by the power of Hell, fueled by undying hatred, the living dead, demonic abominations and other rogues of the multiverse work in a rough alliance intent on adding one more universe to their lists of conquests. The forces of evil believe---wrongly---that if they can conquer enough universes, they can turn the multiverse into a bastion of evil might able to withstand the forces of good when the Day of Judgement arrives.
While the multiverse slowly revolves on its axis and weight of eternity grinds away like a millstone at the center of the Universe, Lharna-besieged by evil, assaulted by wickedness-will be a crucial battleground. In a struggle fought across eternity, every battle could be the last, or it could be the first in a new campaign.
What is the Androclysm?
The Androclysm was a spell of galactic proportions cast by
the legendary sorceress Auberon the Dreamer. It was a spell
that at once cleansed Lharna from terrible evil, but at the
same time bequeathed the elfin world to humankind. You can
read about the Androclysm
in the Brief History of Lharna.
