Weapon reach plays an integral part in
melee combat
- Long weapons have the advantage when enemies are separated.
- Short weapons have the advantage when combatants are close together.
Weapon reach
After all movement in a given round, resolve combat. If opposing
models have weapons that are the same size, combat is considered
simultaneous.
When units first clash in melee, the combatants
with the longest weapons strike first. Remove short weapon casualties
and only the survivors may counter attack.
After units are in melee, resolve combat from
the shortest weapons out to the longest weapons.
The weapon sizes are
- W wrestling/body weapons (includes all bite, claw and
fist attacks)
- XS dirks, daggers
- S short swords
- M flails, maces, axes, swords (most standard melee weapons)
- L Spears, two-handed sword
- XL Pikes
- P projectile weapons
