Battlestorm Basic

Courage and Morale

Battlestorm morale modeling is based on the following assumptions:

  • Larger, better organized units don't break as easily as smaller or disorganized units.
  • The longer the potential lifespan of a creature, the more likely it is to flee a situation.
  • It is possible for a good leader to inspire his troops.
  • Units that break and run sometimes reform and return to the battle.
He cackled with glee while the enemy fleed in panic.

Rules
If a unit loses more than 25% of the troops that it started a melee with immediately check Courage.  Roll 3d10 under Courage.  If the unit is in a closed formation add +1 per model in the formation.  If the unit is in an open formation, add +1 to the Courage.  If the unit is in a mob or a lone individual do not modify Courage.

Courage rolls are optional in BATTLESTORM BASIC.

Inspirations
Each player is allowed one "Inspiration" per game.   An Inspiration allows for a re-roll of a Courage check.

Formations
Complete rules on formation are given in the Battlestorm rulebook.  Some formations are more mobile, while other formations are more steady.
